After the Supreme Court’s order, the Development Authority issued notices on Sunday to 115 shopkeepers approx in Tajganj, including 15 hotels and restaurants, more than 15 marble and handicraft emporiums, and petha stores, ordering them to shut down commercial activities within 500 meters of the Taj Mahal. 

A copy of the notice has been posted at the concerned individuals’ places of business. The notice states that after October 17, no shop will be opened within 500 meters of the Taj Mahal.

If this is not done, the police administration will be forced to close the establishments in defiance of the Supreme Court.

The owner of the shop will be held accountable. This notice has been posted at the Taj Mahal’s West Gate, South Gate, Katra Phule, and East Gate shops.

ADA (Agra Development Authority) has deployed 4 teams to serve the notice. The notice includes the name and address of the establishment as well as the owner.

During the ADA team also got videography done.  According to Chachit Gaur, Vice-Chairman of the Development Authority, the process of notice will continue for the next 3 days. 

He said that the work of determining the boundary of 500 meters radius is in the final stage. The survey of the restricted area is being done by a 20-member joint team of Police, Revenue, and ADA.  

On September 26, the Supreme Court ordered an immediate ban on commercial activities. This is being followed. Prohibition on bringing goods to shops.

The Development Authority on Sunday banned the arrival of new bulk goods for all establishments operating around the Taj Mahal. 

The police will check the goods carriers at the barrier.

ADA Vice President Chichit Gaur said that there is an exemption on carrying household items, only for shops and commercial activities, and there is a ban on bringing goods in bulk.  Earlier on Saturday, the ADA extended the date for the shopkeepers till October 17.
